As we continue to transform our organization into the future, we're looking for a Laboratory Specialist - Portugal area to join our team.

This is a 6-month fixed term contract opportunity.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responds to and schedules customer requests for support.
  • Determines cause and effects implements corrective action.
  • Installation, Commissioning and Customer Training
  • Sales Support / Demos / Presentations.
  • Make regular visits to target accounts to gather information on needs and market conditions in cooperation with the sales organization.
  • Stays current with all administrative responsibilities, updates, notifications and training courses
  • Responsible for maintaining & managing all assigned company assets that may include but are not limited to tools, parts inventory, company vehicle, computer and accessories
  • Key Working Relationships

    Sales

  • Work in conjunction with the relevant personnel in performing instrument demonstrations, installations. Technical Solutions
  • Work in conjunction with Hotline and SSI, ensuring contract requirements agreed with the customer are met and solved easy troubleshooting issues.
  • Liaise with NFS / Local ESS / PSS as required.
  • External

    NHS and Trust Hospitals, Universities and Commercial accounts

  • Ensure that contract reviewed requirements agreed with customers are met. Amend agreement or escalate as appropriate.
  • Outside suppliers

  • Liaise on technical issues for more information as required. Obtain information in a timely manner to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Required Competencies

  • Possess appropriate technical knowledge to effectively perform required job function demonstrating a high level of expertise in manual and automated diagnostic equipment.
  • Generally at least 3 years experience in a senior field support role where the individual has demonstrated leadership qualities and excellent technical competence.
  • A full driving license is essential.
  • Desired Competencies

  • A self-motivated team player. Interacts appropriately with peers, sales counterparts and customers. An ability to effectively manage assigned workload within allotted time constraints is essential.
  • Experience of and availability for travel, flexible and extended working

  • Must be able to work with people from a wide range of areas from Porter to Trust Board Member to achieve objectives in any situation.
  • The ability to gain co-operation and consensus within both own and between workgroups including external agencies is important.
  • To confidently handle objections and provide alternatives to customers and colleagues is also important.
  • Education

    The qualifications are most typically, but not exclusively, associated with an HND, Biologic, Pharmaceutical or equivalent experience together with recognized professional qualification e.g MCB etc.

    Experience

  • Must maintain technical ability across a wide range of disciplines.
  • An openness to new technology and the ability to embrace changing technologies is essential.
  • Knowledge of the Organization and Management of the National Health Service and Laboratories is required.
  • Knowledge of the competition and the ability to compare and contrast their products with Ortho products.
  • Must maintain knowledge of and support company objectives and goals
