Champalimaud Foundation (Fundação D. Anna de Sommer Champalimaud e Dr. Carlos Montez Champalimaud), a private, non-profit research institution in Lisbon, Portugal, is looking for a highly motivated Research Technician to join our research team and work on Cancer Research.

The successful applicant will be integrated into the Sánchez-Danés research group at Champalimaud Research.

RESPONSABILITES

The research technician will participate in developing and running in vivo and in vitro experiments aimed at studying the mechanisms involved in cancer progression.

This position will include a broad and evolving range of tasks, including :

Genotyping mice

DNA extraction, primer design, PCR, gels

Colony management

Designing and keeping track of the breedings, weaning and cage use

Immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescent stainings

PROFILE OF CANDIDATES

Any national, foreign and stateless candidate(s) holding a Bachelors, Masters, PhD or Doctorate degree.

First Stage (R1) or Early-Stage Recognised (R2) Researcher profile according to the European Framework for Research Careers.

Qualifications

Bachelor, Masters in Life Sciences or PhD, with preference given to candidates with experience in molecular and cellular biology, genotyping and cancer biology.

Some experience with molecular biology techniques and working with rodents is preferred.

The position requires the ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. The ideal candidate will be self-

motivated, organized and efficient. A careful eye for detail and strong logical skills are also required. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively in English.

EVALUATION AND SELECTION PROCESS

The selection process will be conducted in two stages, with an initial selection of the candidates based on the submitted applications, followed by on-

site interviews (or through videoconference, if necessary) with short-listed candidates.

In the first stage the candidate’s selection will consist in the evaluation of the scientific and curricular backgrounds of the candidates, to be weighted as follows :

motivation letter : 20%; CV : 60%; letters of recommendation : 20%

In the second stage some candidates will be shortlisted and invited to take part in an interview.

The selection committee is composed of Adriana Sánchez-Danés (Chair), Henrique Veiga-Fernandes (Member) and Eduardo Moreno (Member).
