About The Role :

We are looking for a Brazilian Portuguese Language Specialist (full-time, permanent position) to manage mostly quick turnover translations, in a variety of industry sectors.

The chosen applicant will be joining an existing team of in-house Portuguese translators. The successful candidate will be a native Brazilian Portuguese language speaker, with a degree in translation and excellent writing skills.

Responsibilities :

  • Operational Excellence Provides high quality and accurate translations as part of a larger project team. Effectively understands source language content and applies appropriate style and terminology to the target language.
  • Utilizes organizational and time management skills to deliver assignments on time and within budget.

  • Delivers Quality, Value, Results Meets required standards for quality by understanding and correctly applying SDLs linguistic and project processes and procedures.
  • May provide linguistic quality assurance (QA) testing of localized translations (e.g., software, help, websites, DTP, and audio output.

    Effectively learns and utilizes translation tools (e.g., SDLs language technology) to ensure the highest quality output.

  • Functional Excellence Learns important translation and linguistic tools (e.g., SDL Studio) by actively participating in both formal and informal learning opportunities such as training programs and on-the-job experience.
  • Applies learnings to develop higher levels of proficiency in translation skills, specialized knowledge (e.g., industry, linguistic), and cultural standards associated with source and target languages.

  • Relationship Building Builds strong relationships with team members by actively contributing to team projects, taking initiative, communicating effectively, and demonstrating a commitment to achieving customer results.
  • Requirements :

  • A minimum of 6 to 12 months professional experience as a full-time translator, such as an internship.
  • Experience as a proofreader of professional translations would be an advantage.
  • A good grasp of MS Office and good communication skills (spoken and written) are also mandatory.
  • Be able to produce work of a high standard on a consistent basis and have good organizational and time management skills.
  • An eye for detail and the ability to work successfully under pressure and to tight deadlines are essential requirements.
  • Should be a strong team player, who will prove flexible and motivated, as well as keen to learn.
  • Working knowledge of Translation Memory tools would be an advantage but full training will be given.
