As a SW engineer in the team you will be responsible for :
Lead the integration of turbine and power plant control into simulation models.
Estimation, planning and execution of tasks in close cooperation with the local and remote teams
Scoping, specifying and delegating task to reach department and project objectives

You will be part of a key organization within Vestas R&D by joining our department Power Plant Engineering. We are responsible for the electrical grid integration and hereby ensuring grid connection to power systems worldwide for all Vestas wind power plants including;
Vestas wind turbines, Vestas Power Plant Controller and electrical balancing equipment.
As a department, we span across being in very close interaction with the market as well as being involved in various innovation activities with external collaborators while focusing on product development as our main objective.
The core products within Power Plant Engineering are the Vestas Power Plant Controller and electrical simulation models of wind turbines and wind power plants, utilizing the department's core competencies within Power System-
Control-, SW- Engineering.

The Plant Electrical Engineering department is a new department that will consists of Electrical engineers and Power System engineers responsible for mainly 2 core domains :
1) Design and support of electrical simulation models representing our turbine and plant control technologies used by both TSOs and R&D.
2) Design and support of electrical main circuit equipment.
As a SW engineer, you will be a part of the SW team
Your main responsibilities and tasks will include :
Taking a key role in developing internal tools and scripts to enhance productivity and reliability of models in the department.
Take part in the integration of turbine and power plant control into simulation models.
Support performance and quality of simulation models through testing and validation
Participate in cross functional teams developing power system related functionality of wind turbines and power plant controllers
Engineering activities in optimizing the model development and validation processes
You will be working with these challenges :
Creating and reviewing requirement specifications and design descriptions.
Creating and reviewing verification procedures and reports for lab and site tests.
Verification of the electrical simulation models by using in house testing SW and validating against field measurements
B.Sc. or M.Sc. in SW Engineering, Computer Science or similar
Programming Skills in one or more of the following languages : (C++ / Python / .NET / C# / Web Development / Fortran / SQL).
International working experience would be advantageous
Good communication skills in English orally and written
Domain knowledge within Wind or renewables companies are not necessary
It is an advantageous if you have experience with some of the following :
Basic knowledge of real time control systems and software development
Software tools, jira, sourcetree, git, etc.
Experience with power system studies
Knowledge of Matlab / Simulink and model based design
Experience with development of embedded software
You have experience creating software implementation descriptions and verification reports
You have experience with test and verification of real time software applications in lab and on-site
Knowledge of power system would be advantageous
Knowledge of software tools, jira, sourcetree, git, etc.
You have the desire and the ability to understand and maintain overview of a wide range of advanced technical domains
You are driven by results and can get things done while still caring about the details
You have the ability to work with multiple targets and stakeholders
You are customer-oriented and have the ability to understand customer’s perspective
You find it challenging and interesting to work with other people in a large organization and are capable of building up an intensive network across cultures and time zones within Vestas
