Summary :

A research position for one Bolsa de Iniciação à Investigação (1 BII) is opened at Instituto de Telecomunicações in the scope of the project AIMHealth - AI-based mobile applications for public health response, funded by the applicable financial framework (FCT / MEC through national funds and when applicable co-funded by FEDER PT2020 partnership agreement).

The work is in the area of hardware for physiological data acquisition.

Work Objectives :

  • The general objective of this research is to work in the area of non-intrusive data acquisition and remote patient monitoring, physiological signal acquisition, and physiological sensors characterization for biomedical applications, namely invisible Electrocardiography (ECG);
  • Development of supporting software and hardware tools; Laboratory and real-world experimentation; Systematic analysis and reporting of the main findings.

    Place of work :

    The work will be developed at the premises of Instituto de Telecomunicações Pólo Lisboa, under the supervision of Hugo Humberto Plácido da Silva

    Duration :

    3 months, with the possibility of renewal (according to the regulations defined by FCT). Start date : November 1, 2022 or soon thereafter

    Monthly salary :

    486,12€ according to the table of grant amounts awarded directly by FCT for positions held in Portugal () / according to the table of grant amounts awarded directly by Instituto de Telecomunicações.

    Each criteria, and the final classification F will be evaluated in a scale (0-20). The candidates will be ordered according to :

    F C1 x 40% + C2 x 50% + C3 x 10%

    In case of a tie, the tied candidates will be ordered according to C1, then C2...

    The Jury has the right to not admit any of the candidates that applied for this position whenever they consider that no candidate meets the minimum requirements for the position.

    950 / 2019, dated on 16th of December, and also by Regulation of Instituto de Telecomunicações’ fellowships .

    Offer Requirements

    Admission Requirements :

  • BSc student in Biomedical Engineering or related areas; Strong knowledge in biomedical instrumentation; Good programming skills preferably in C / C++ and Python;
  • Experience in physiological sensor integration and characterization, with special emphasis in Electrocardiography (ECG);
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate multi-disciplinary teams; Good English writing skills; Self- motivation for scientific research.
