The Digital team requires a Data Engineer to build and support BI platform to power the next generation of different tools we are evolving, from ERP to our front-facing e-commerce sites, from monitoring / observability tools to offer custom customer recommendations, from raw data to multiple enriched data sets, so on and so forth, all of these to build the infrastructure barebones to enable data-driven decision while using the tools and data we had so far to serve our no compromise consumer brands.

The ultimate goal is to deliver reporting solutions, interactive visualizations and self-service analytics that provide deep insights to support business analysis and decision making.

This is a high visibility role that will be interfacing with senior business leaders on a regular basis and the ideal candidate will be a self-starter, highly analytical, comfortable diving deep and making data driven decisions with a strong customer focus with the ability to multitask, navigate ambiguity, adapt quickly to changing business requirements for clean, innovative brands such as Biossance , Pipette , Purecane , and the forthcoming Rose Inc.

  • Work on the end-to-end in data pipelines. (Multiple data sources / event producer, ingestors / ingress all the way through the presentation layer.)
  • Partner with software engineers, data analysts, data scientists and business stakeholders to understand data needs and advise data driven solutions, representing key data insights visually in a meaningful way.
  • Create flexible data solutions without over-engineering being proficient in a broad range of data design approaches.
  • Have rigor around data architecture best practices, cloud provisioning, data governance to be cost effective.
  • Main requirements

  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Solid experience developing complex ETL processes including SLA, performance metrics and monitoring.
  • Experience analyzing data to identify gaps and inconsistencies.
  • Good understanding about different databases, tradeoffs and common engineering challenges around data technologies in distributed systems.
  • Demonstrated strength in data modeling and data warehousing. Participating in different phases from data lakes to machine learning and data hubs.
  • Experience influencing product decisions with data.

  • Key Skills

  • Proficiency in advanced and tuning SQL for relational databases.
  • Good level in NonSQL for non-relational databases.
  • Experience using BI tools such as Domo, PowerBI or Tableau.
  • Basic DBA skills in cloud managed services offers, preferably Azure SQL Database.
  • 3+ years in general software development in any of these languages Java, Javascript, Python, Ruby or GoLang.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in any messaging systems (Kafka, AWS Kinesis, AWS SQS, Azure EventHub, Azure ServiceBus, ...)
  • Ability with Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Hbase, SnowFlake, Spark, etc.
  • Nice to have

  • Experience harvesting data in many different e-commerce systems / tools. (Feedonomics, Dataroma, SFMC, ).
  • Exposure Apache NiFI for distributed data-flow integration.
  • Google Analytics, BigQuery, TensorFlow or PyTorch.
  • Experience with container based deployments (Docker, Kubernetes) and Serverless (Apache OpenWhisk, Azure Functions, AWS Lambdas).
