The role

We currently have an opening for an IT Delivery Manager based in Lisbon, whose primary focus will be on delivery of the IT change that targets a set of European business areas (e.

g. including countries / regions such as France and Iberia or; Germany and Benelux), further referenced on this document as target business areas .

This role will focus on the following main pillars :

  • Change Delivery responsible for the successful end to end delivery of the IT elements of a change portfolio of the target business areas.
  • The role is responsible for delivering change through IT Projects or Agile Factories while maintaining context and follow-up on delivery activities (through participating on regular monthly Portfolio Review meetings) for the supported business areas.

  • Business Partnership to be seen as a business partner to each business area’s management teams. The role will become both a business representative within IT, and an IT representative within the Business.
  • It should be able to determine a clear understanding of the business ambition and engage with IT engineering teams, being fully accountable for the definition, design and delivery of an IT solution that is fit for purpose.

  • Support the Strategic Vision develop a deep understanding of the business goals and work with the IT Europe Management Team to define, plan, and deliver the European IT strategy regarding Change Delivery and Support.
  • This is a hands on’ role and will involve the building of strong productive relationships with the managers and staff within the Business and across IT to achieve in context application change.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Change deliverySuccessfully support the change portfolio prioritisation process, ensuring that IT capacity meets the agreed demand levels through an effective resource planning, while working with the business stakeholders to assess business cases, prioritise the delivery and track success KPI’s.
  • Accountable for all the IT change delivery for the target business areas. This includes managing the relationships with the engineering teams and any external resources or 3rd party teams involved in the delivery of the IT elements of the portfolio.

    Accountable for the success of the IT delivery for a subset of European projects, tracking on budget, time, quality and the overall success against initial business case.

    Manage an appropriate set of processes and controls across the portfolio to ensure that IT projects and services are delivered to the agreed criteria and service levels, keeping a drive for continuous improvement.

    Ensure that changes are delivered in accordance with our Architecture and Change management principles (TAG, CAB...)Ad-hoc support for the Group Project Manager Team Lead and the team in general

  • Support the Strategic VisionGain a clear understanding of the business strategy and collaborate on the definition and communication of the IT Strategy representing the business areas involved.
  • Contribute to the ongoing evolution and implementation of an effective broader European IT strategyWork with the relevant internal (business leaders, CTO, HoIT, Lead Architect) and external (vendors, consultancies) teams to investigate technology developments that could be exploited in order to deliver tangible business value.

  • Business partnership Trusted technology advisor to the target business areas;Stakeholder Management : responsible to maintain a strong relationship based on trust between the IT function and the target business areas.
  • This includes proper management of delivery, prioritisation, expectations, etc. fostering a solid business / IT partnership.

    Ensure that the communication is timely, relevant and transparent, with clear and unambiguous understanding around priorities, risks and issues, so that expectations are correctly set and managed.

  • Person Specification :

  • Background in IT (Software Engineering or equivalent is strongly preferred) with 5+ years of experience on IT delivery with a good high-level understanding of technology and the IT architecture landscape
  • BSc / MSc Degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, Computing and Systems Development, or similar.
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills, capable of working with people at all levels within and external to the business.
  • Other European languages would be an advantage.

  • Experience working in a Matrix Management environment
  • Previous experience working within an agile environment and relevant management tools (MS Project, Jira, Confluence, Sharepoint and other structured project management tools).
  • Knowledge of Agile or iterative methodologies and terminology.

  • Experience in an IT role with responsibilities in planning and stakeholder management.
  • Experience managing and leading IT teams and / or workgroups on a Functional or Technical delivery
  • Experience leading a team across multiple geographies is a plus
  • Experience with multiple IT delivery methodologies. Experience with Agile delivery is a plus
  • Experience of working in a fast paced, evolving business under constant pressure
  • Previous experience in Digital transformation and / or Insurance or financial services is a plus
  • Excellent stakeholder, conflict and influence management skills.
  • Ability to combine soft influencing, persuasion and consultancy skills with leadership qualities that will encourage business leaders to positively respond to questions, inquires and requests to meet deadlines
  • Capable of demonstrate intellect and gravitas to influence and gain credibility with Hiscox business personnel and management
  • Creative, proactive, logical and innovative and will not just accept the status quo
  • Highly results driven, with the energy and determination to succeed in a very fast paced environment where the pace of response and leadership is critical to success
  • Take logical and structured decisions, remaining calm and consistent even when under pressure
