Revenue

The Indie Campers Revenue team works across the user lifecycle to develop a compelling global marketplace and community around road trips.

We employ data and insights to help us best acquire, engage, serve, monetise and retain travellers and hosts across all of our territories to ensure that our customers are able to go on amazing road trips around the world.

The Revenue team consists of our Customer Excellence, Marketing, Supply, Revenue Management and Data teams, so the work you do will depend on your particular blend of skills but will always be customer-centric, data-driven and collaborative as we work on increasing customer choice, value and satisfaction.

Our Lisbon office is located in the city center, known for its beautiful landscape, history and vibrant cultural scene. It is a place where our Product and Technology, Operations and Revenue teams meet informally, co-create together, have fun during lunch and enjoy our lovely barbecues at our terrace.

The Role

As Director of Marketplace - Rental, you will report directly to the CRO and be ultimately responsible for delivering sales (GMV), customer satisfaction and managing efficiency for our third-party supply partners and ultimately the entire rental marketplace in due course.

We expect you to plan and oversee all projects relating to the launch and development of the marketplaces into industry-leading platforms.

You will lead the Marketplace team, being responsible for coordinating all necessary efforts, initiatives and controls across the different teams to ensure delivery quality.

You will be required to lead the pace and manage team motivation and engagement into a result driven mindset. Additionally, we expect you to identify and establish products, procedures and key partnerships with the ultimate goal of maximizing the value proposition.

You will set & execute the go-to-market and launch strategy. Manage target setting, by market, in coordination with other functional teams and own the marketplace P&L.

Manage the strategic growth decisions for the marketplace business and be accountable to deliver on aggressive growth goals.

Build and scale a best-in-class team for business development, operations, sales and client experience. Define priorities and goals, and manage performance by setting relevant KPIs.

Identify unexplored opportunities and adapt the business model to local requirements, taking into account local regulatory constraints.

What you’ll do :

  • Develop and grow our rental marketplace with excellence. You will be responsible for all KPIs namely with regards to GMV, customer satisfaction and efficiency;
  • Engage, manage and supervise the Marketplace Team with the purpose of constantly enhancing our value proposition;
  • Design and implement business strategies, products and procedures that ensure alignment with short-term and long-term objectives developed in tandem with the management team;
  • Become an industry expert and get close to local and regional regulations and organisations that may be relevant in marketplace development;
  • Translate strategy into actionable goals for product design, performance and growth in collaboration with the Product & Technology Team;
  • Oversee marketplace operations, making sure that goals are met, as well as pushing for operational excellence in terms of quality and efficiency;
  • Constantly monitor performance with tracking and establish corrective measures as needed, and prepare detailed reports, both current and forecasting;
  • Support buy vs. build vs. partner decision-making to ultimately deliver both short and long term goals;
  • Build and manage key partnerships with third-parties, such as Insurance Providers, to guarantee rental safety and enhance marketplace’s users value;
  • Collaborate with the Management Team in setting up the marketplace vision and operational strategy.
  • Who you are :

  • A proven track record in the early to middle stages of a B2C online marketplace with a significant operational component
  • A strategic thinker, great track record in partnership sales and management with slick facilitation and negotiation skills
  • Experience in driving results in an agile and hands on environment
  • Entrepreneurial drive, adaptability, and a focus on results
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex operational and strategic initiatives
  • Travel industry experience preferred but not essential
  • Analytical and data-driven decision making
  • Exceptional academics, MBA and spell in a top tier professional services organisation a big plus
  • Fluent in English (mandatory);
  • Experience building and managing high-performing teams, with a natural leadership attitude that rallies people towards the same goal;
  • Be able to diagnose problems quickly and have foresight into potential issues;
  • Outstanding at solving complex problems that require logical reasoning and good analytical skills;
  • Self-starter with ability to take on tasks independently and great team-player;
  • Able to work in a highly dynamic and international environment.
