Overview The Infrastructure Architect proactively leads and supports Enterprise Architecture activities that guide the development and management of a portfolio of Infrastructure solutions.
It includes projects, products, systems (including applications, technologies, processes and information), shared infrastructure services and shared application services.
He / she has a deep understanding of business goals, outcomes, capabilities and value-streams.The success of the candidate will be measured on his / her success to (not limited to) :
Design end-to-end Manufacturing 4.0 Architecture for Solvay Industrial sites, in collaboration with product owners, IT / Digital service lines and IT Infra leads (OTI)
Re-architecture key applications : on prem MES (Aspen, Osisoft), LIMS systems (Labware, SAP QM), SAP (PM,...), IoT platform (GCP), a performance management solution Eschbach, some mobile solutions like Appsheet or Neptune in order to better interconnect with the DCS (OT),
Connect the IT (cloud / edge) with local OT infrastructure
Optimize the production , quality, maintenance, while maintaining safety and performance
Define an AI strategy for the run in Cloud, Edge infrastructure or any relevant target for digital manufacturing
Design the overall connectivity on sites with new telecom solutions (private LTE, 5G,...)
Responsibilities The Infrastructure Architect will demonstrate competencies across four key dimensions : Leads Infrastructure Design and Analysis
Leads evaluation, design and analysis for the implementation of an infra architecture across a group of specific business applications or technologies based on enterprise business strategy, business capabilities, value-streams, business requirements and enterprise standards.
Creates architectural designs to guide and contextualize solution development across products, services, projects and systems (including applications, technologies, processes and information).
Creates reference architectures focused on detailed design principles, decision points, detailed APIs, major systems and dependencies between business and IT.
Manages and develops the architecture for a broader scope of projects or products, working closely with application architects that manage and design architecture for a single project or product or initiative.
Analyzes the business-IT environment (run, grow and transform the business) to detect critical deficiencies, legacy and technical debt, and recommends solutions for improvement (systems of record, differentiation and innovation).
Orchestrates Infrastructure for Manufacturing Delivery
Designs and directs the governance activities associated with ensuring infrastructure architecture assurance and compliance.
Defines the principles, guidelines, standards and solution patterns to ensure solution decisions for manufacturing are aligned with the enterprise's future-state architecture vision.
Supports product managers in the end of life product decisions to maintain, refresh or retire products, services or systems (including, technologies, processes and information).
Develops a roadmap for the evolution of the Manufacturing portfolio from current to future state (as defined by the infrastructure architecture).
Monitors the current-state solution portfolio to identify deficiencies through aging of the technologies used by the application, or misalignment with business requirements.
Identifies the organizational impact (for example, on skills, processes, structures or culture) and financial impact of the solutions' architecture.
Facilitates and Collaborates to Deliver Business Outcomes
Works closely with the legal, purchasing, information & risk, and PMO teams to ensure the execution of plans and compliance correspond with what is being promised throughout the project or product lifecycle.
Works closely with the product & service owners to ensure a robust architectural runway that can support future business requirements throughout the product life cycle.
Consults with application and infrastructure development projects and products to fit systems or infrastructure to architecture and identify when it is necessary to modify projects to accommodate the solutions' architecture.
First implementation project deliverables :
Identify & formalize the exhaustive list of business capabilities in the scope of this project (based on a list of solution features, make the link with Solvay’s business capability map)
Identity & formalize the exhaustive list of Business Object in the scope of this project (complete, update the list of Information, including their exact Business definition, make the link with Solvay’s Business Glossary)
Identify & formalize the exhaustive Data catalogue in the scope of this project (based on Business Objects, how they will be implemented through our Information System
Map the critical Operating models : per personas, how will they perform their business processes through the list of application (solutions sequence diagrams)
Design the Target Data architecture blueprint (including with alternatives if relevant) : Information flows between systems, Master Data management impacts in scope, operational data store versus Datawe house and / or Data lake, how Data security principles & data regulation rules are taken into account in the design, RACI matrix of Data usage per applications
Design the application / Infrastructure environment diagrams (interactions between systems in scope)
Support the functional specifications of data interfaces (data mapping, functional rules, triggers, volumes )
Design the technical specification of data interfaces : implementation model (API, ESB interfaces, canonical format, or ETL interfaces ) and all technical & non-technical specifications (monitoring, re-play.

Design the technical specification of service calls : Web interfaces, API calls for system to system and / or client to business logic calls
Design the technical architecture blueprint (list of technical components, their technologies, their interactions, which infrastructure to support them )
Design the Security specifications (related to application, data, technologies) required by the Security team, assess their level of compliance through envisioned project architecture, analyze & recommend the architecture alternatives needed to ensure security & regulatory compliance
Education and Experience
Master’s degree or engineer school10 to 15 years in Infrastructure and / or Architecture services, with a minimum of 5 years in an exposure of Industrial / Manufacturing environment served by IT technologies and solutions
Relevant experience in a global company and matrix organization
Experience in Manufacturing solutions / technologies, design and transformation
Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies, platforms and processing environments
Understanding of strategic and emerging technology trends, new and evolving business operating models (including Digital ops)
Experience developing architecture blueprints, strategies and roadmaps
Understanding and knowledge of Regulations, Standards and Frameworks
Knowledge of the manufacturing 4.0 technologies (Cloud & Edge computing, IoT, digital twin, data exchange with DCS, MES, or industrial assets)
Knowledge of Data semantics (data catalog and domain model)
Knowledge of Data integration and orchestration (virtualization, data lake, ETL, ESB).
Knowledge of Process integration (API)
Knowledge of Process management (workflows, robotic process automation)
Knowledge and understanding of different modelling languages (such as UML)
Knowledge of various aspects of an enterprise technology architecture like business, information, data, and security
Understanding and knowledge of IT standards and controls

Ability to work with developers in an in-and-out outsourced environment
