BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for dynamic, results driven individual to join as a Manufacturing Engineer at our new production plant in Viana, Portugal.
Key Accountabilities :
Owns manufacturing solution from initial business case to production
Develop manufacturing hypothesis and cost estimates for business cases
Develop flexible manufacturing systems specifications to meet internal & customer requirements
Support equipment sourcing process
Lead manufacturing equipment development in accordance to project timing and business case assumptions
Own process documentation : PFD, PFMEA, control plans, operator work instructions, routing standards
Lead manufacturing engineering qualification work relating to production processes FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) / SAT (Site Acceptance Testing)
Follow manufacturing best practices and lessons learned into new designs
Work with Build Technicians on initial customer & validation samples
Assist in training of production operators and maintenance personnel on production equipment
Focus on quality of products produced in the production systems
Track, analyze and record equipment overall effectiveness and identify process improvements
Identify & implement process cost reductions
Maintain manufacturing excellence on all equipment
Create equipment preventive maintenance procedures
Work in team environment with Quality and Application Engineers on current production issues and future customer programs.
Identification and closure of safety issues (suggestions, inspection and investigation findings, hazards, and controls, GSSF action)
Identify safety equipment and provide safety training on production processes.
Travel to suppliers to monitor development activities
Education & Experience
Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering or Technology equivalent
Minimum 3-5 years’ experience with manufacturing assembly processes
Working knowledge of vehicle system level components and functions
Manufacturing Experience in Electric & Hybrid Systems Preferred
Solid understanding of Engineering financials (Cap-Ex Planning and equipment costing)
Experience in high volume manufacturing
Creative & Innovative process developer
Deep understanding of Lean Manufacturing, PPAP, and AIAG Manufacturing requirements
Analytical and problem-solving skills (8D, Shainin or Six Sigma training a plus)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Portuguese
Strong computer skills in Windows applications (Excel, Power Point, Word, Project)
Design tools (Solid Works, ProE, or AutoCad)
Ability to work effectively across functional and geographic boundaries
Ability to work in a team environment
Works under limited supervision
