Role Purpose
Participate in a range of engineering activities mostly (but not exclusively) related to design, planning, delivery, testing, optimization and acceptance of Core domains : IMS based solutions on mobile / fixed voice but also NaaP (Network-As-A-Platform and EPS fallback.
Signalling based solutions on SS7 / Sigtran / Diameter / HTTP and Voice Interconnect. Deliver and execute in-line with overall technology strategy and in accordance with local market business priorities.
Manage and lead projects both in local and in cross-country level, as transformation projects such as Spring 2 Reload that will evolve the Core network into NFV / CNF and support state-of-the-art services such as VoLTE, Nb-IOT, VoWifi & 5GSA.
Understand the specifics and the different business and technical requirements of each deployment and look for best practices and for methods to leverage on cross-country know-how.
Ensure timely realization of yearly plan, with fulfilment of defined costs and quality.
Job Responsibilities
Local in-country implementation of the Voice Core Network Evolution Plan;
Perform detailed / low level design, configuration, testing and integration with core elements and interconnect parties;
Act as EDM (Engineering Delivery Manager) for Core &Services projects (both in-country and in other countries), Defining, planning and scheduling all data core network activities and interventions;
Understand dependencies and implications, ensure their consideration for achieving smooth integration of Core& Services technologies and software functions into the relevant country networks.
Maintain accordance with guidelines and high level designs defined by all GNE&D groups;
Budget monitoring and execution;
Monitor service performance and quality, recommend optimization actions where applicable.
Competencies
Degree in Electrical / Electronic / Telecommunications, Software, Computer engineering;
Voice and signalling topology, interfaces and protocols;
Inter-functional relationships, teamwork, cooperation and time management with good degree of autonomy and ability to self-start on complex deliverables in ambiguous situations;
Excellent Communication and analytic skills, ability to explain, enlighten, educate and above all engage and influence stakeholders;
Project management capabilities;
Capability of planning in advance possible issues which might arise during the project and already preparing possible workaround solutions;
English skills : Very Good (technical) written and spoken.
