To reinforce our team we are looking to fill the following position at our Lumiar site :
As a Scientist part of the R&D Process Chemistry Development group, you will assurethat processes carried out in the company facilities are safe, by conducting experimentalresearch activities and providing advice in the field of Process Safety.
Main responsibilities :
Execute the project related tasks assigned to the area within the timeframe and scope of work defined;
Conduct experimental testing in the Process Safety Laboratory, to generate science-driven recommendations towards safer manufacturing operations;
Collaborate within interdisciplinary teams to achieve project goals and milestones;
Participate in risk assessment activities, to guarantee safe manufacturing operations as per the applicable EHS directives;
Plan and lead the technical aspects of the projects under his / her responsibility, in order to reach the established targets;
Document and communicate the research findings and risk assessments outcomes, to both internal and external partners (customers and subcontractors);
Generate scientific communications, including peer-review publications and awareness material;
Contribute with new ideas & methodologies to improve the company efficiency and services portfolio;
Continuously develop and improve Hovione know-how in EHS & Process Safety.
University degree in the field of Chemistry or relatedareas;
Execute research work accordingly with GLP standards;
Good understanding on chemical reactions thermodynamics, kinetics, heat- and mass-transfer;
Materials characterization via thermal analysis techniques (ex. : heat flow calorimetry and DSC);
Basic knowledge on materials flammability and ignitability;
Basic knowledge on manufacturing process engineering, EHS practices and Seveso / Reach guidelines;
Active problem solving with limited supervision;
Creative mindset and commitment to achieve results;
Desire and drive to work successfully with other team members;
Communicate with clarity, impact and compassion;
Accepts responsibility and accountability for his / her actions;
English proficiency, both written and oral.
