THE OPPORTUNITY

We’re looking for a talented Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our Partners Focus Area in Portugal !

Our Partners Area is accountable for :

The offer side of our marketplace (we work to provide a shop window for the partners, bringing customers and helping Gympass to have more corporate clients);

Helping partners operate inside the marketplace and offer multiple services, gaining new income;

Addressing many challenges such as providing autonomy, a self-service setup, business insights, support partners attracting more clients, support new types of partners, build new systems and improve the current ones;

Provide APIs to integrate in high scale with CMS (Club Management System) systems.

As a Back End Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing highly scalable services making sure that best practices of modern web development are followed.

You will have plenty of opportunities to take part in architectural decisions, suggest improvements and interact with the product team and other business stakeholders in a high collaborative agile environment.

As a senior developer over time you are expected to be able to design from scratch highly scalable systems, deliver well with no guidance, become an expert in the business rules and architecture of our complex environment and mentor less experienced developers.

YOUR IMPACT

Build scalable, maintainable architectures, and write clean and readable code;

Ensure successful delivery of projects, and promote the long-term technical health of our services,

Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve services focusing on performance, scalability, and stability;

Build Integration with 3rd party API and tools;

Manage project priorities, deadlines and deliverables;

Bring expertise in architecture and design process;

Support existing systems looking to enhance functionality, increase scale, and transform in new ways to meet our product demands;

Create new services and capabilities to meet emerging needs as our business grows;

Exert technically influence over other engineers, by sharing his experience and knowledge.

WHO YOU ARE

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent professional experience;

5+ years of experience designing and developing complex modern services applications;

3+ years of experience working with modern agile product development teams;

3+ years of experience with SQL / NoSQL technology such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB understanding common use cases and performance pitfalls;

1+ years of experience dealing with event-driven architectures and message brokers such as RabbitMQ, KAFKA , ActiveMQ, etc and a in depth understanding of their use cases and pitfalls;

Versed in concepts such as DDD, SOLID, Design Patterns distributed systems and architecture. Capable of understanding pitfalls and anticipating common failure modes of a microservice environment;

Experienced in implementing prototypes and in practices and concepts such as MVP, A / B testing and feature toggles for rolling-out features to production;

Experience in developing RESTful web services collaborating with front end teams to create mocks, define payloads and http status of APIS;

Experience applying computer science fundamentals : data structures, algorithm design, problem solving and complexity analysis.

Proficient in automated testing;

Interest and ability to learn other coding languages and multiple cloud platforms;

Strong communication skills : able to communicate effectively with technical and non technical stakeholders.
