Where in the world will I be working?

Our aim is to help people manage their energy usage and to support the UK’s drive to reduce carbon emissions. This means supporting new products which help our customers to improve their homes’ energy efficiency.

Our Field Force business includes hundreds of smart meter installers and electrical engineers who visit homes to install hardware like smart meters and IOT energy devices, as well as the scheduling staff who plan and manage their workloads.

As we continue to grow our business, we need to keep our cost-per-install low, which we plan to do by increasing our installs per day, better route planning, and decreasing failed installs.

We’ve recently created a new team to create custom tools for our engineers and schedulers to achieve these goals.

What will I be doing?

This role will play a crucial part in bringing our new Field Force platform to life. You'll be guiding the teams, setting the execution strategy and supporting them to deliver to the best of their ability.

Ideally you may have some relevant domain experience but more importantly, be customer and outcome-focussed and highly adept at lean product development and be able to support teams in both areas.

You’ll be operating at speed, across new systems, new processes, new teams so you'll be constantly learning, iterating and moving forward.

You'll work closely with the commercial owners, engineering and UX leads for Field Force to set new benchmarks for the sector.

Specifically, you will be responsible for :


  • Working with senior colleagues and management to define effective product and delivery strategies that will help deliver our goals
  • Ensuring our propositions support the delivery of Field Forces’ short and long term commercial goals
  • Team

  • Coaching your team to help them in their personal and professional development; sharing & encouraging best practice product development
  • Enable a customer-centric, lean product development culture in collaboration with UX leads
  • Facilitating cross-group collaboration and identifying and delivering ways to make this better; including multi-location working
  • Delivery

  • Driving product & prioritisation decisions & developing roadmaps across the Field Force tech estate
  • Building and being accountable for the key KPIs across your products and ensuring their visibility across your key stakeholders

  • An accomplished product leader with a proven history of ownership and delivery;
  • Able to demonstrate the ability to provide clarity in a complex and changing environment;
  • Passionate about working in a dynamic environment and thrive off responding quickly to changing information;
  • An expert in customer-focused lean product development at different stages of the product life cycle;
  • An inspiring line manager and coach - passionate about developing others and supporting a team through servant leadership;
  • Able to grasp new concepts quickly, and show the tenacity to keep asking until clarity is achieved;
  • A team player who encourages and facilitates collaboration within your team and across the OVO Group;
  • Passionate about the vision of OVO with a good understanding of the how to make complex operational systems run well and deliver commercial goals or able to demonstrate an ability and willingness to learn it quickly;
  • Able to demonstrate strong commercial and analytical skills - able to cut through opinions with data
  • A strong relationship builder with the ability to empathise and collaborate across the business.
