About the Department

As a Product Manager at Cloudflare, you are responsible for building products that improve the way that the Internet works.

Product Managers at Cloudflare sit at the intersection of software development, design, and business strategy. We shape high-level product goals but also get our hands dirty.

On an average day, you might pitch a concept to senior leadership, create a launch plan with marketing, work with designers to conduct user research, prototype a new feature, iterate on a spec, analyze usage data, or pair with an engineer on implementation.

We have ultimate responsibility for understanding our client needs, influencing business strategy, feature specification, and working with engineering to develop our software.

About the Role

Cloudflare helps build the future of the Internet. We started Cloudflare to solve one half of every IT organization's challenge : how do you ensure the resources and infrastructure that you expose to the Internet are safe from attack, fast, and reliable.

We saw that the world was moving away from hardware and software to solve these problems and instead wanted a scalable service that would work around the world.

To deliver that, we built one of the world's largest networks. Today our network spans more than 200 cities worldwide and is within milliseconds of nearly everyone connected to the Internet.

We have built the capacity to stand up to nation-state scale cyberattacks and a threat intelligence system powered by the immense amount of Internet traffic that we see.

We are now expanding Cloudflare’s product offerings to solve the other half of every IT organization's challenge : ensuring the people and teams within an organization can access the tools they need to do their jobs and are safe from malware and other online threats.

We released Cloudflare for Teams, a platform built on Cloudflare’s network to secure users, devices, and data in organizations of any size.

Cloudflare for Teams consists of multiple products that deliver a comprehensive solution. Those products include Cloudflare Access, built to replace VPNs and protect internally-managed applications, and Cloudflare Gateway, a tool that keeps team members protected from malware and other threats on the Internet.

What you'll do

You will be the Product Manager for Cloudflare Gateway, our product designed to change how organizations keep users and data safe on the Internet.

You will lead the productization from its current prototype technology state to a solution deployed for millions of users in thousands of customers.

This product will be part of Cloudflare for Teams and will bring safer, distributed browsing to users at a massive scale.

In this role you will shape the product, working closely with the development team and other functions across Cloudflare, to listen to customer problems and deliver a browser isolation platform that solves them.

You will solve problems that have wide impact and significance, shaping the future of security on the Internet.

We operate with very small teams of highly motivated and experienced engineers and product professionals. This candidate will need to be able to understand the technology behind this product to help guide engineering decisions and prioritizations.

A suitable candidate will have an exceptional understanding of engineering, customer management, or product, and a deep desire to learn.

As a product that has not launched to customers yet, this candidate will need the ability to understand customer problems from working closely with early adopters who report problems or feature requests.

They will communicate with grace and empathy inside and outside of Cloudflare.

Examples of desirable skills, knowledge and experience :

  • 3+ years of experience in product management or solutions engineering
  • 2+ years of software engineering or software deployment experience
  • Experience working with customers to deploy and capture feedback on new technologies
  • The ability to work in a fast-moving and ever-changing environment
  • Experience working alongside engineering and design teams
  • Exceptional people skills and empathy
  • Excellent command of the English language
  • A high degree of attention to detail
  • A deep understanding of technical subjects and the internet
  • A kind and generous attitude towards customers and co-workers alike
  • A desire to receive feedback and grow
  • A university degree in software engineering, software development, computer science, or related technical field
  • Responsibilities

  • This is a self-directed role where you will be expected to own a product vision, direction, and day-to-day growth including :
  • Help contribute to crafting Cloudflare’s vision for the future of the Internet
  • Define the product, learn from customer usage, iterate and improve
  • Contribute to the Cloudflare for Teams vision and product strategy all up
  • Work with customer-facing teams during and after sales cycles
  • Communicate with peers, leadership, and customers
  • Organize and triage features and issues
  • Manage a product roadmap and its translation to revenue
  • Make decisions and own outcomes
  • Work alongside an engineering team to execute on the product vision
