What will you bedoing?
The role offers the opportunity to play a critical finance role forour Portuguese Branch based in Lisbon. The focus is on our local regulatoryreporting deliverables together with preparation and review of our entitygeneral ledgers, associated processes and branch returns.
The candidate must have a strong accounting and reporting background,ability to self motivate to ensure delivery, hold strong communications and be capableof interpreting regulatory (Bank of Portugal), financial (IFRS) and local tax requirementsto fulfil the role successfully.
KeyAccountabilities
We expect a high level of accountability and ownership within thefollowing task to be fulfilled :
Responsible forproducing and filing accurate financial information to our regulator, BarclaysGroup and other authorities
Manage the generalledgers including executing controls, adjustments, reconciliation and review toensure integrity across all associated reporting therefrom
Coordinateintercompany and accounts payable activities for the branch
Receive and respondto queries from the regulator, tax authorities and Barclays Group
Respond to changes inregulations and laws, assess against our current reporting and support buildinga response to ensure compliance
Engagement with Projectwork and continual process optimisation
What we’re lookingfor :
Portuguese certifiedaccountant required to support branch submissions
Bachelor ofScience / Business Administration degree in Economics, Finance or Accounting
5+ years’ experienceworking in Banking / Finance industry or top tier consulting firm
Fluency in both Portugueseand English languages
Excellentorganisational skills and a flexible and proactive work style with provenability to meet tight timelines consistently
Stronganalytical / problem solving mindset with focus on controls. You will becomfortable performing analysis at a granular level of detail to ensure ourdeliverables are high quality, accurate and on time
Strong communication,interpersonal and stakeholder management skills. You will be comfortableworking with and creating robust relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
Skills that willhelp you in the role :
Previous experiencein a Financial Control or Regulatory Reporting function at a top tierorganisation
Excellent knowledgeof Portuguese and IFRS accounting standards together with regulatory and tax rules
Experience inpreparing, reviewing and submitting EMF, FinRep, EIS and tax compliance returns
Experience infinancial and regulatory systems architecture together with familiar tools usedSAP, Excel
Flexible usage ofvarious software / system packages SAP and Excel knowledge
Risk andControl Objective
As all Barclayscolleagues, the candidate has to ensure that all activities and duties arecarried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise WideRisk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards.
